What is this?

This is the work blog of Pete Ashton in his capacity as an online communications consultant, though it's often about more than that. If it's to do with people talking online and it interests me it'll be covered here.

Blog Action Day

2008%20-%20Poverty%20-%20Blog%20Action%20Day%202008

As part of Blog Action Day 2008, where the theme is Poverty, a few of us Birmingham social media types are running a social media surgery for voluntary and community groups on October 15th from 5.30 – 7.30pm. Nick Booth, whose idea it was, has the details. As does Jon Bounds, whose idea it also was.

From my reading this will be an opportunity for those involved in making Birmingham a better place to find out how social media tools such as blogging can help them achieve their aims. I imagine we’ll be setting people up with blogs, demystifying a few concepts and generally empowering folks to do good deeds more effectively.

The surgery takes place at BVSC at 138 Digbeth, B5 6DR (map) and there’ll be wifi and refreshments.

Thanks to Nick for sorting this out. Hope to see you there!
