Creative Networks talk

Please excuse the flyer design – I had nothing to do with it!

Thursday 29th May sees Stef Lewandowski and myself giving a talk at the Creative Networks monthly event on “Powering your business with Web 2.0″ for want of a better title. We’ll be covering two main areas: Firstly, how creative industry companies can use blogs and social networks to engage with their audiences and customers by providing information and content in a timely manner to enable and track conversations about their events and products. Secondly how they can create or tap into networks within their field to share information and build connections, and why this is a good idea.

The event is free and the talk starts at 7.30pm at the TIC in Millennium Point. There’s networking time before and after, with free food, yes free food from 6pm and drinks after. You can register your interest here but in my experience it’s not necessary so turn up on the night if you forget. If you’re planning on liveblogging WiFi is locked down but I managed to get a 3G signal in there.

Creative Networks have been running events for a number of years with expert speakers from the screen and sound industry. Their web presence does leave something to be desired but the events themselves are rather good. I went to the Soweto Kinch talk last month and it was super.

    See you both there. :)

Looking forward to it Pete – I think we could hopefully break down some of the hype and talk about how the freely available tools that are suddenly available can be used in ways that are relevant and useful for creative businesses.

Having said that – have you noticed the large but very subtle ‘biohazard warning’ symbol in the mix there. What are they trying to say?!
